Student Field Trips

The Ridge History Park is filled with wonder for children and deep learning for adolescents and adults.  The "Little School House" has been restored to its original charm as an authentic nineteenth century classroom. The door hinges creak, and the wooden floors still groan as visitors enter. This public school is one of only two in the state of Wisconsin run by Catholic nuns. The “little school” is a treasured reminder of the days when close to 200,000 one-room schools peppered the landscape of rural America.

Customized, age-appropriate field trips are available for students K-12th grades.  Field trips can include docent-led tours, hands-on arts and crafts projects and the community center kitchen is fully equipped for meal prep or serving students with bag lunches.

Event Rentals

The Ridge History Park is a perfect site for outdoor picnic-style gatherings or indoor events.  The Community Center accommodates up to 75 guests.   The center includes great room, foyer, two ADA accessible restrooms and a kitchen complete with two refrigerators, stove, oven and microwave to serve potluck style or for caterers to prep and serve..  Sorry, the dishes must be washed by hand, just like in the days of yore!  Tables and chairs are available to set and serve the needs of your meeting or gathering.

The grounds host a breath-taking view of the hills and valleys that encompass Middle Ridge.  Tour the grounds, set up outdoor games for a family reunion, use the farm fields as a backdrop for your wedding.  We are here to help you customize your event, meeting or gathering.

Public Enjoyment

The Ridge History Park is here for all to enjoy.  Whether it be camping on the grounds, hiking the trails, or learning the history of the ridge settlers and the Indigenous People who cared for the land long before it became a farming community, the park is open to all.

If you are looking for a meaningful place to lend your time as a volunteer, we have a variety of activities you can participate in that support our mission.  Assisting with events, becoming a docent for educational tours, spring planting and land conservation activities all need community volunteers.

Most importantly, you can help by sharing your feedback about the future development of The Ridge History Park.  Participate in our community "Charrette" (date TBD) to help us dream of a bright, dynamic future.
